Photography is one of the most important investments a person can make for their special event. Photography can, at times, be the only memories left after the party is over. Specially for weddings, you want to make sure you will have the photos that would make you re-live the most important day of your life.
In photography you want to find someone who is a passionate visionary that enjoys what they do. That person must know, work and play with light, must see angles and opportunities for photographs in places and circumstances that are not fitting for a normal person. Your photographer must take risks and not be afraid of stepping outside the traditional for those are the photos you will value the most.
Photography, aside from your wedding dress, rings and ceremony booking should be most important thing on your list.
you must book the photographer of your choice with sufficient time to make sure the day is available for you, the longer you wait the less chances you have that date is still available. Also the more time in advance you book, the more time you are allowed to make payments towards
your package.
Please make sure you know, there are photographers for every style and budget. You cannot book a non-traditional photographer if you would like traditional photos and vice versa. Also please keep in mind that a low budget photographer will probably have less experience, less photographic gear, less artistic vision, and probably less responsibility towards your photos.
In the case of regular sessions you want to make sure you are getting what you are paying for. While there are photographers that are priced higher than others you have to keep in mind the investment they made. Their photographic gear, years of experience, and their long line of clients. Also the time they are investing in your package: hours of shooting and the countless hours behind a computer screed while editing. Some photographers only book a maximum of sessions per week (in my case 6 maximum) while others book as many as they can. Some time your session while others feel that the work hasn't been done in one hour. According to what I mentioned above, you want to book the photographer that suits your needs. And if the photographer you want is a little over your budget, waiting an extra week or contacting them about a payment plan can really help you get those photos you really want! Take time to hunt down the person you want to work with and do not rush into something only because is cheap.
